about

Volume 8 of the KL Archive Release Series collects some of my acoustic singer-songwriter favorites, and enlivens the proceedings with folk-pop takes on two beloved sixties classics. A personal highlight is smooth-pop ballad 'This Mystery,' featuring guest female vocalist MT. She sang my song so beautifully. This collection focuses on mellow grooves, positive energy, jangling electrics, strumming and arpeggiating acoustics, electronica backbeats and heartfelt, insightful lyrics - I've tried to mix my love of 60s AM radio with my love of 70s SoCal Singer-Songwriter. I think it makes for a nice blend, and including the two sounds, I feel, is a very genuine portrait of how music works for me. These are two of the places I naturally come from.

My longtime friend and collaborator, drummer Chris Arduser, who was a member of Adrian Belew's Bears, is featured on at least one track on almost every volume in these archive releases, and this is no exception - check out his excellent 'stick work' on the gloriously ironic 'Captains Courageous.'

I've tried to give you eleven good reasons to put 'Should Creation Become Unhappy With Us' at the top of your to-listen-to list. Enjoy!
